Today is 12/31

Today is the last day of the year 2011. Rode a bus on my way to work as dawn breaks and upon seeing the dark view of the grass fields, I came to ask myself “how old are they, really?” After all, they’ve been there ever since I was born or even way before I do. Sure they’ve witnessed countless horizons I’ve failed to appreciate and the vehicles that rushed through their sides but do they know the date today? Should they know, anyway.

Time do flies. Sometimes we do not notice. Sometimes we realize it at some point but never minded. It’s faster than a blink of an eye, quicker than a bullet hitting a target, swifter that mere snaps but I never do notice nor appreciate, and that’s why it felt bad. it felt bad because I have taken for granted the long dragging hours and the days I spent illogically waiting for something to happen. It felt so bad because everything flies away all at the same time.

I envy these vast grain fields. Despite the fact that they are changing colors during the dressing of seasons and the urban development has to take place for quite a moment, I have come to appreciate that grain fields’ vastness can only get smaller —- they die but they never seem to grow old. Or if they do, at least they never fly away.
